This Westchester pattern was manufactured since 1915 by the Lenox China company, based in the US. If we are not mistaken, this may be the longest-running active pattern currently being manufactured by Lenox. Indeed, we would not be surprised if this were to be the longest running china pattern EVER manufactured by Lenox. And it's no wonder. Lenox touts this pattern as one that "evokes the grandeur of an era of privately commissioned china services, rich with exquisite design and detail". Which it does. If you are looking for something that is simply put rich, rich in every way, then Westchester is your china pattern. We have no direct knowledge of this, but it may be that this wealth-invoking pattern may have been named "Westchester" after Westchester County in NY, the second wealthiest county in NY State and the seventh nationally. Westchester county is also home to lots of "old money" including the Rockefeller family, people who would be the natural users of such a luxurious china service.
Our favorite Lenox Westchester pieces are the dinner plate as well as the mug.
