This Buchanan pattern was manufactured for 14 years by the Lenox China company, based in England. Lenox Buchanan is part of the Lenox Presidential Collection, a collection of Lenox patterns named after US presidents and Founding Fathers. This china pattern has a distinguished air to it, and not just because it is named after a former American president! The cobalt rim and raised red enamel dots blend well with the gold trim and scroll design to produce a rich, but not ornate sense of quiet royalty. Replacements in this pattern are not always easy to find, especially the tea cup & saucer, which command premium prices. The raised dots seem to be a feature of the Lenox presidential patterns and can be found in the Lenox Hancock and Lenox McKinley patterns as well.
Our favorite Lenox Buchanan pieces are the cup & saucer as well as the serving platter.
