This Harvest pattern was manufactured for 40 years by the Lenox China company, based in the USA . There are quite a few patterns made by different brands over the years in the "wheat" theme, including Lenox Wheat china. The history of America and indeed of the entire world is one of agricultural societal domination. Bread and hence wheat came to symbolize the bounty of the earth and it's necessity to all living things. What better way to celebrate that then to have it represented on the very utensils used during the meal? Today's modern society, having moved away from the agricultural model to a great extent, nonetheless still needs to eat :). This explains the continuing popularity of this pattern during its manufacture up to 1980 and beyond, to this very day.
Our favorite Lenox Harvest pieces are the oval platter as well as the other server pieces.
