This Blue Wheat pattern was manufactured for 21 years by the Coalport China company, based in the US. There is something to cobalt that makes it the perfect accentuation of fine china. It seems to give off a royal flavor, a deep-ocean sense of elegance and stateliness. Blue Wheat also features a golden laurel circling within the cobalt band. Laurels were once used often in china patterns, see Syracuse Sherwood for a similar design. It is assumed that the laurel represents the "wheat" in the "Blue Wheat". A combination of vintage and modern looks, Coalport Blue Wheat was one of the most popular patterns of Coalport and remains a favorite today.
Our favorite Coalport Blue Wheat pieces are the tea cup and saucer set as well as the salad plate.
