How To Identify Your China Pattern - Part 1

People looking to sell china, especially discontinued china patterns need to know what they have in order to get the best possible value for it. People who want to add to their existing dish set also need to know what to buy. there are two major pieces of information that you need to know: the brand (manufacturer) of the piece and the pattern (design). There are also piece types such as dinner plates, cups, soup bowls etc., but that is not as important unless you need a specific piece.

An example of a brand and pattern would be Wedgwood (brand) Medici (pattern). This form of identification exists in other industries as well such as the Auto industry. There is the brand (Ford) and the Model/Pattern (Mustang). In future articles we will discuss how you can determine which brand and pattern your particular dinner service is part of.
