Reed & Barton is one of the United States' first makers of quality flat, table, and giftware. In 1824, Henry Reed and Charles Barton opened the company, starting themselves as craftsmen to perfect the craft before graduating to be presidents of their company. The dedication to quality and excellence has earned them several awards, including a Medal of Excellence at the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition. Several Presidents and First Ladies have received Reed & Barton tableware, two of which include John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline O. Kennedy. Even President Dwight Eisenhower was awarded a trophy at the National Celebrities Tournament made by Reed & Barton in 1954. In 2007, the company collaborated with Thomas O'Brien, a New York designer who instilled modern sensibility into classic pieces. While originally in Taunton, Massachusetts, Reed & Barton is now in Bristol, Pennsylvania as a division of the Lenox Corporation.
