Oneida

Oneida was established as The Oneida Community in 1848 by John Humphrey Noyes in upstate New York. The company manufactured an array of products including chains and silk until 1879 when the Community splintered into two factions after failing to resolve internal conflict. Unable still to come to a resolution, members ultimately decided to join the businesses to become the Oneida Community, Limited, a joint-stock company that would be run by former members. Interestingly enough, Oneida played a significant role in World War I, producing combat knives, ammunition clips, rifle sights, hand grenades, surgical instruments, and even silverware for the Army and Navy. Their wartime efforts helped them discover what would be one of their greatest successes. One of Oneida's most crucial contributions to the flatware industry was stainless steel flatware. Chateau was one of the first stainless steel patterns to successfully resemble sterling-like designs. It quickly surpassed silverplate and sterling silver flatware and continues to be a popular choice today. If you're looking for Oneida replacements, you've come to the right place!
