This Ormonde pattern was manufactured for 33 years by the Royal Doulton China company, based in the UK. What an outstanding, vintage pattern! An Ormonde plate is all about color, cheerfulness, brightness. Contains elements of Art Deco as well, appropriate to the period in which it was made. A rich, wide ranging palette of color make this a beautiful china service to enjoy in the springtime. It's formal uses are obvious as well. The general style of this pattern evokes many of the characteristics of the earlier discontinued Minton China patterns. Raised enamel, colorful floral bouquets, blue piping, unusual trim etc. All to add to your sense of freedom and delight. A bit old fashioned but loads of fun!
Our favorite Royal Doulton Ormonde pieces are the cream soup and saucer set as well as the uniquely shaped tea cup and saucer.
