This Marlborough pattern was manufactured for 9 years by the Minton China company, based in England. The Minton Marlborough pattern is an elegant pattern but not one of the Minton company's classic patterns as they widely vary in design and do not have any standard look to them. The Minton company is a prestigious and old company going back to the year 1793, its work can be found in many places such as the United States capitol building in Washingtion where they manufactured some of the encaustic tile designs in the building. Mintons designs are widely different as can be seen from other patterns such as the Minton St, James & Minton Bellemeade patterns which are both quite diffrent looking & and feature their own unique look & style. As for the Marlborough pattern itself, it's understated elegance and quiet style draw contrasts to patterns such as Wedgwood Sterling rather than flashier ones such as Lenox Autumn.
Our favorite Minton Marlborough pieces are the cake plate as well as the dinner plate.
