This Ming Rose pattern was manufactured for 23 years by the Coalport China company, based in England. The discontinued Coalport Ming Rose pattern is a beautiful & summery looking pattern with its bouquets of brigthly colored flowers as a border & in its center sure to delight whoever is eating off of it. The Ming Rose pattern is not how the Coalport company is defined by designs as can be seen from other patterns by the Coalport china company which look nothing like the Ming Rose pattern such as the Coalport Blue Wheat & Cairo patterns which to the untrained eye look as if they are all made by different china manufacturers due to a wide range of design that the Coalport company uses. We speculate that the Ming Rose pattern may be a favorite of the Coalport company since the founder of the company John Rose shares the same name as the Ming Rose pattern. We see a resembelence in the Ming Rose pattern to another pattern by a fine English china manufacturer, the Wedgwood Columbia pattern which shares some of the characteristics of the Ming Rose pattern in design & by the shape of some of its pieces.
Our favorite Coalport Ming Rose pieces are the covered vegetable bowl as well as the gravy boat
